I am Victor Scavo, Assistant Professor of Instruction in Analytics and Information Systems at Ohio University’s College of Business. I bring over 30 years of professional experience in accounting, tax compliance, and enterprise solutions consulting to my teaching of systems analysis and design methodologies and to the capstone consulting projects course.
My academic interests lie at the intersection of information systems, analytics, and instructional technology, with a particular focus on how emerging technologies shape learning design in higher education. As part of my Ph.D. studies in Innovative Learning Design & Technology (ILDT) (formerly Instructional Technology), my research interests continue to evolve toward the study of adaptive and gamified learning environments.
My current research-in-progress examines how the design of gamification mechanisms influences learner motivation and engagement in university learning environments. This work integrates existing research with exploratory work to inform evidence-based instructional design practices that support engagement, persistence, and measurable learning outcomes in applied and technology-oriented disciplines.
Alongside my academic role, I maintain an active consulting practice in tax compliance, accounting, and information systems implementation, and remain professionally engaged through organizations such as the AICPA, IMA, and NATP. My professional journey is guided by a commitment to lifelong learning and to helping others design pathways to success.
